Kok-Pom Punch


Shake up your summer party with the nonalcoholic drinks with the seasonal fruit"Kokum" ,naturally tangy fruit lends a juicy crispness, while light orange.pomegranate  and ginger add a punch of flavor,which never fails to refresh and satisfy. I really like the tartness of citrus fruits – any excuse to use lemon and limes. I used an equal mix of fresh pomegranate juice, kokum orange,lemon and tomato juice  to keep that lovely burnt blood red that resembles the colour of red wine.

 
 
 Most punch recipes cater to a single crowd: drinkers or non-drinkers. This one is delicious either way. Whether you fizz it up with champagne or mineral water, kokum-ginger punch will put a colorful sparkle in your celebrations.

Ingredients :
  1. 1 liter Pure cold water
  2. 1/2 cup sugar 
  3. 1/4 cup pomegranate seeds
  4. 1 orange
  5. 1 tomato
  6. Juice of 2 lemon
  7. 1tbsp kokum syrup or soak 10 sun dried kokum fruits in warm water and us it
  8. A small piece of ginger,crushed
  9. Few pieces of crushed ice
Method:
  • Place your fruit pieces and sugar into your blender and add about 2 cups of pure cold water.
  •  Put the lid on the blender. Blend the mixture on the medium setting for several seconds. Stop the blender and put the setting on the high setting. Add crushed ice.Blend for several seconds on high until the juice is the desired consistency.
  • Add more water as needed, and continue to blend for a few more seconds if necessary. 
  • Separate the juice from the pulp by pouring the juice through a mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a container -- if you want pure juice -- and then discard the pulp. Serve your juice immediately or store it in the refrigerator in an airtight container for no longer than 10-12 hours to minimize loss of nutrients.

Lassi Malai Markey( sweet yoghurt with cream)

One more drink to beat the heat is all time favourite  "Lassi Malai Markey".This yoghurt drink is very famous in northern part of India especially in Punjab.No meal is complete without large glass  full of lassi.Lassi is primarily a sweet drink taken cold and it is really good and healthy choice to beat the scorching  heat and get refreshed in summer.Lassi can be served plain or enhance the flavour by adding mango or strawberry or rose syrup.

                                               
There are Many new drinks flooding in the market every second day but flavour of 'Lassi ' can not be replaced with any other drink.

2 servings
Ingredients:-
Plain yoghurt-2cups
Sugar-2-3 heaped tablespoon
Cardamom powder- a pinch
Rose water-1tsp(optional)
Ice cubes-6
Fresh cream-1tbsp

Method:-
  • Place all the ingredients except ice cubes in a blender and blend until frothy .
  • Now add ice cubes and churn it again until they broken down into a slush.
  • Serve in tall glass.

Beat the heat with my special water melon slush.... Its a great cooler for warm afternoons specially when the temperature is above 40C....So check out for the super yummy water melon slush recipe which is very easy and refreshing specially for this summer season.

Ingredients

Water melon pieces(seeded)-4cups
Lemon juice-3tsp
Sugar-2tbsp
Crushed ice-2cups
Lemon/lime soda-1/2ltr

Method:- 
  • Blend watermelon,lemon and sugar in a blender till smooth.
  • Pour the juice in freezer proof container.
  • Freeze for 15-20 mins.
  • Take it out from the freezer and serve in a tall glass half filled with crushed ice and then slowly pour the soda and serve.

Agua de pina

Agua de pina is nothing but simple pineapple water or juice as we call it in india.It is available all over mexican street stands and served in restaurants .Simply to make this juice more interesting for my kids i gave Mexican name to my juice.

Ingredients:-
Pineapple chunks-2cups
Sugar-1/4cup
Crushed ice-2cups full

Method:-

  • Blend pineapple and sugar in a blender .
  • Fill the glasses with crushed ice and pour the juice and serve with pineapple wedges .

Mixed Fruit Punch!

In most part of india the temperature is above 30 degree  and who does not want to sip some chilled drinks After my mixed fruit chat  and many more  chilled fruit drinks  here is one more drink to beat the heat....Mixed fruit punch..hope you all love this.

Ingredients

  1. Pineapple chunks-2cups
  2. Green grapes-1cup
  3. Orange segments-1/2cup( remove the skin and cut into small pieces)
  4. Pomegranate seeds -1/2cup 
  5. Sugar-2tbsp
  6. Chilled water-1/2cup
  7. Crushed ice-4 cups
  8. Salt-1/4tsp




Method:

  • Put pineapple,grapes ,orange piece, sugar and salt  in a blender and make a nice pulp and strain it or use it like that.
  • Now add pomegranate seeds and water and blend it for a second.You will get nice thick pulp.
  • Now fill the glasses with crushed ice and pour the juice over the ice and serve.

Herbal Punch!!

Today i have prepared some healthy herbal juice to cool you all down on hot summer days with some special easily available herbs.I am trying this combination for the 1st time and i really like the taste and so is my hubby.So i think i should drink more of these herbal juices then my tea.




Ingredients:-
Tomato -2(cut into pieces)
Lemon juice-1tbsp
Coriander leaves-1tbsp
Mint leaves-2tsp
Ginger-2tsp
Fennel powder-1/2tsp
Black salt-1/2tsp
Sugar-1/2cup
Ice cubes-10
Chilled water-31/2cups


Method:-

  • Mix all the ingredients except ice cubes and blend  it to a smooth paste adding only 1/2 cup of water..Now strain the juice and  put it back the strained juice  into  a blender and blend it along with chilled water and ice cubes .
  • Now fill the glasses with crushed ice and pour the juice and serve.
Note:-You can add honey to enhance the taste.

Cashew -lemon delight!!

I just love summer fruits ,they have  a unique taste and flavour.One of them is cashew fruit .Many people hate this fruit because of its distinct flavour and taste.But i love this fruit.I still remember my summer holidays at my uncle's place .We all kids used to climb the tree just for this fruit.At those times we used eat this with pepper and salt.Even now i eat the same way 
                                 yesterday i tried this juice with only salt and pepper but some what i didn't like the taste .So my hubby asked me to add lemon juice and the taste was much better.So today i  just added both lemon and pineapple juice along with some sugar and it was really good.I think this is the best drink to beat the heat.



Cashew-lemon delight


Ingredients:-
Cashew fruit-1
Pine apple juice-1/2cup
Lemon juice-2tsp
Sugar-1tbsp or to taste
Salt a pinch
Crushed pepper 1/2tsp
5-6 ice cubes
Chilled water-1glass


Method:-

  • Blend pieces of cashew fruit,lemon juice,pineapple juice,salt and sugar in a blender along with some ice cubes.
  • Now strain the juice and serve with crushed ice and sprinkle some pepper.

Red lush!!


Ingredients

  1. Lemon -4
  2. Beet root -1tbsp(grated)
  3. Ice cubes-10
  4. Chilled water-1litre
  5. Sugar-1cup
  6. Salt-1/2tsp
  7. Pepper powder-1/2tsp
  8. Water melon scoops for garnishing
  9. Mint leaves few  for garnishing

Method:-

  • Blend lemon juice,grated beet root,sugar,salt,pepper powder and water in a blender . 
  • Now strain the juice and blend it  again with ice cubes .
  • while serving add 3-4 water melon scoops and mint leaves.Refreshing Red lush is ready.

Sunny melon delight!!

Sunny melon delight
Ingredients:-
 Musk Melon pieces-2cups
Water Melon pieces(seeded)-2cups
Sugar-2tbsp
Ginger juice-1tsp
Ice cubes-10
Chilled water-2cup


Method:-

  • Blend Musk melon pieces along with 1tbsp of sugar, 5 cubes of ice and one cup of water to make a thick juice.
  • Now prepare watermelon juice by adding ginger juice,1tbsp of sugar  ,remaining ice cubes and  a cup of water in a blender.
  • While serving pour watermelon juice 1st  in the tall glass and then slowly pour musk melon juice from the side of the glass.

Banana smoothie


Ingredients:-
Banana-2(fully ripe)
Milk-2 cup ( chilled)
Vanilla essence-1/2tsp
Sugar-1tbsp
Ice cubes-5-6

Method:-

  • Blend all the ingredients in a blender and serve chilled.             

Note:- you can use  replace vanilla  essence with vanilla ice cream .

Tomlime punch!!

Come summer and its time to think of ways to beat the heat.so here is a  superb mocktail to beat the heat.




Serves - 2

Ingredients:-
Lime juice-3tsp
Tomato -1 big ( grated)
Ginger-1 inch piece(shredded)
Sugar-2tbsp
Salt-a pinch
Water-750 ml
Ice cubes - 5-6 
Method:-
  • Mix lime juice ,grated tomato,sugar,salt and ginger in a blender.
  • Add water and ice cubes and blend it well.
  • Strain the juice and serve immediately .
